2008-09 Relay Challenge

We witnessed a fantastic race for Week 3. Six teams came in together with “Gerbrolee” and “Zinc Chloride” pipping out “GO OK GO” and “East meets West”.

Tragically “The D’s” didn’t even front up despite being in the lead after Week 2 and first week winners “Healthy Music” once again seemingly left their good form at home.

Again many thanks to Michael Bown and Tim Mulvey who did an excellent job with the handicap times and the Race Secretary who saw sense this week to leave the handicappers alone to do their job.

Final honours went to “Zinc Chloride” who were represented over the three weeks by Zoe Di Rosario, Nunzio Di Rosario, Caitlin Bromage, Luci Matthews, Peter Devine and Phil Reardon. The big story is that Nunzio decided to let the reserves swim the first two weeks and enter the competition with a big bang for the last week (the Handicapper has noted these tactics).

“Gerbrolee”, “Convict Stock” and “East meets West” performed well with consistent performances and “GO OK GO” were noticeably the most outstanding improvers.

Sadly after many years of top 4 places “East meets West” has swum their last challenge together since the Bown’s are moving interstate. We are sure they will be visiting us though.

To all the teams a very hearty thank you for the comradery and healthy competitive spirit that was witnessed over the course of the event.
