JC 1000

The AASC was blessed to have a swimmer for many years in the form of Jim Croke. Jim was remarkable in that he was purported to be able to swim a 400m FS at the same lap speed as he could swim a 50m FS.

In 1996 the then President, Chris Gray, decided to put Jim to the test and a race over 1km was organised at the Christmas Party club meet. True to form, Jim successfully proved the theory correct - to the amazement of the entire club.

However, what came from this was a great annual event, aptly named the "JC1000", that has continued to inspire members to train, compete and enjoy an event with a difference.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) it is held just before the Christmas cheer which instantaneously reverses all the good work. But this is all part of the fun that makes the "JC1000" a very special event indeed.
